Support for Foster Parents

The highly critical role you're taking on as a foster parent is life changing for a child in need of a nurturing home and loving family. To assist you in providing a healthy foundation for the child you take in, Children's Aid and Family Services offers the following support:

  • A monthly stipend and medical coverage for the child, as well as financial assistance for clothing
  • A developmental assessment by a nurse, who will be one of the primary sources of support
  • The in-home Early Intervention Program, in which foster parents participate in physical, occupational and speech therapy with the child
  • Case management that provides comprehensive, individualized support to foster parents. Case workers are the link between the foster parents, the birth family, and the Division of Youth and Family Services
  • Referral to support services, as needed
  • Ongoing monthly foster parenting training
A phone call to Children's Aid and Family Services at either 201.226.0300 or 973.762.5887 is the beginning of a fulfilling new chapter in your life. Our Recruitment Specialist will personally help you with any questions you may have about our foster care opportunities and programs.
