Elder Care Services, a program of Children's Aid and Family Services, provides social work services at several senior centers in Bergen County. As people age, there are physical, social and emotional changes that can naturally occur--for example, retirement, the death of a loved one, caring for an ill relative, a sudden hospitalization, illness, and loss of independence. These changes can lead to new concerns and problems and affect a person's emotional, social and physical well-being. These changes can be overwhelming at times. Family and friends are not always able to provide all the help, understanding or support needed. If you or a member of your family is having difficulty coping with these changes or need guidance in seeking the right solution, our social worker is available to assist you at the senior center locations listed below.
Elder Care Services Include:
- Information on services and program for older adults
- Referral to local agencies or resources
- Assistance in completing applications for benefit and entitlement programs
- Short term counseling to individuals and families
- Educational programs on concerns related to aging
- Caregiver Support Group for people caring for an ill relative who is 60 or older (at the Northwest Senior Center only)
