Our infant program is a nurturing "home away from home". From your child's personal crib, primary caregiver and respect for their individual schedules, your child will have an ideal environment to learn and grow. Our caring teachers are devoted to having meaningful interactions and experiences with the children in their care. This enables children to develop secure attachments with the people in their lives and trust for their surroundings. Whether they are reading, singing, feeding or just cuddling with your child; the teachers here at Turrell are supporting the needs of your baby that are crucial for proper development.
Our bright, clean rooms are equipped with cozy rockers, mesmerizing mirrors, soft toys and books to soothe and stimulate your baby. When they are ready, your child will have fun climbing our soft gym equipment in our state of the art "Waddler Room". This infant gym has extra padded carpeting and a large variety of age-appropriate toys and equipment to help strengthen the gross motor skills necessary for your baby to take their first steps.
Your baby's first year is one of wonder and excitement but also sometimes fears and worry. At Turrell, our experienced teachers will be there for you to answer all your questions and concerns. From Teething and diaper rash to ways to soothe and swaddle, the teachers will assist you in anyway possible to make you and your child feel safe and comfortable. We pride ourselves in maintaining a strong parent/teacher relationship to make your first experience away from home a positive one.
Our Toddler program teachers support the needs of the inquisitive toddler by providing a safe and secure environment for them to play and explore. Through this type of active learning, children can make discoveries about themselves, their abilities and the world around them.
Your toddler will participate in a variety of stimulating learning activities ( They think they are just fun games! ) that introduce early math skills ( colors, matching, sorting), foster language acquisition and vocabulary development and promote social skills. Our teachers also continue to encourage self-expression through a myriad of music, dance and dramatic play activities.
Our toddler classes' predictable yet flexible schedules and routines enable the children to feel a sense of control over the days' activities, which is of utmost importance to a toddler. This sense of control and comfort is often carried over to make potty training here at Turrell a success. Our teachers work closely with both the parent and child to ensure that this milestone is met in a comfortable and nurturing environment and at the child's own pace.
The pre-school years are filled with new discoveries and a new found sense of independence for your child.
Each day here at Turrell, we embrace your child's development and help to build their self-confidence. Independence and self-help skills are encouraged in every aspect of the program. Our spacious classrooms are designed with an array of learning centers to continue to encourage your child's curiosity with the world around them. Whether they choose the Sand and Water Center, the Computer Center or the Art Center, your child will be learning skill concepts in an exciting and natural way. Our experienced teachers know that providing a child with a hands-on approach helps to engage the child and create a life-long love of learning. Teachers use this hands-on approach along with a theme- based curriculum to provide a well-rounded day for your child.
In addition to our theme-based curriculum; your child will also participate in the HALO program. HALO - Healthy Alternatives for Little Ones, is an alcohol, tobacco and drug prevention program that focuses on building self-esteem and healthy relationships, making healthy choices for our bodies and proper ways to deal with social/emotional stresses. Learning about theses concepts at an early age helps to create a knowledge child who is aware of his personal worth and value and therefore capable of making better decisions in the future. Whether it's deciding which learning center to go to, whether to eat an apple or a candy bar, or how to turn away from peer-pressure; the teachers here at Turrell will support and guide your child in a positive and nurturing way.
Our Pre-Kindergarten program will challenge and prepare your child for elementary school learning.
Here at Turrell, our Pre-K classes utilize a learning- center based program with a focus on small group instruction. A small child to teacher ratio in the learning centers allows your child the special attention necessary to encourage good learning behaviors and a positive learning experience. Our writing, math, listening, computer and dramatic play center activities are designed to challenge, not frustrate. Your child will work with, experience and learn:
- Letter recognition, sound and writing
- Various math concepts including counting, graphing and measuring
- Listening skills and an appreciation for literature
- Computer skills such as following directions by using the mouse or the keyboard
- Music concepts such as rhythm and tempo
- Art mediums such as watercolors, clay, & chalk
- Science concepts such as life cycles and weather
- And so much more!
Your child will also learn about team work and cooperation and practice it daily. Our classroom "jobs" help instill a sense of pride in your child, making them a responsible "little" citizen of the community. Our extensive program and devoted teachers ensure your child will be prepared for academic success in Kindergarten.
It seems like just yesterday your child was scribbling with their crayons and asking you to help them zip their coats. Now they are ready to begin their journey in elementary education. What better place to start then our Kindergarten program.
Our program is an individualistic one, where each child will be challenged based on his/her own abilities. Our small class size enables the teacher to work with each child, engaging and motivating them throughout the day. This is especially important when setting the foundations for reading.
Our curriculum meets all content standards for first-grade readiness and is composed from curriculums of local schools in our area. This ensures your child will meet all expectations that await them when they transition from our center to first-grade. Each child in our program will read at least simple sentences by the time they graduate our program. They will also have conducted science experiments, composed and solved their own math word problems, written journal entries and created their own versions of famous works of art!
As with all the programs in our center, the Kindergarten is an all day care program. This allows you to know your child is in a safe and secure environment from the moment you drop them off to the moment you pick them up. They will not be shuffled between before or after school programs and will remain with their teacher for the entire day. You will see and communicate with the teacher daily ensuring a home/school connection that is very important for learning success.
At Turrell, we know that just because school's out, doesn't mean learning stops. Our exciting and educational Summer Camp program is available to all children ages 6-9.
Our theme-based curriculum will strengthen and reinforce school concepts while the children are having fun.
Your child will be transported to ancient Greece during Olympic week as they learn about the first games and host an "Olympics" of their own. They will learn the importance of teamwork and cooperation during Sports week as they organize teams and play a variety of games. Your child will be having so much fun that they won't even know they're learning during Weird Science week. They will be too busy making rock crystals, dyeing flowers, making slime and erupting volcanoes to notice!
Your child will enjoy cooking activities, computers, music and movement, arts and crafts, and games, all in a safe environment led by a certified teacher. Each day also includes ample time outdoors on our playground or in water play. You can rest assured that your child will keep learning as they play their summer away!
