Since its inception more than 35 years ago, the Turrell Center has provided a warm, secure and positive environment in which children can explore, learn, and flourish. A fully licensed, accredited, non-profit childcare center, the Turrell Center has become the choice of many Bergen County families for myriad reasons: its solid reputation, highly experienced staff, and mindset that contradicts that of many childcare center chains and corporations. Simply put, the Turrell Center sees itself not as a business, but as a family - with the responsibility to care for and nurture each and every one of its children.
Upon entering the bright, spacious classrooms, children instantly feel welcomed to join activities designed to help them grow both socially and developmentally. That children feel accepted and appreciated for who they are is of the utmost importance to the staff at the Turrell Center; this is one of the critical keys to building self-confidence and self-esteem. Just as the Turrell Center's highly engaging - and highly effective - educational techniques and tools nourish young minds, freshly prepared meals and nutritious snacks also provide vital nourishment. Countless other ways of nurturing continue in the children's book and toy libraries, state-of the-art playgrounds and large indoor gym. Other special amenities include a dedicated indoor infant playroom, enrichment programs and parenting workshops - all of which are provided to give families the support they need while juggling the demands of work and home life.
At the Turrell Center, children are supervised at all times, indoors and out. Parents have peace of mind knowing that playground areas are safe and secure. Proper identification and key pad code is required for entry. The Turrell Center's staff is fully trained in CPR and first aid, and, in keeping with its policy of prioritizing the security and safety of the children in its care, maintains a close relationship with the Paramus Office for Emergency Preparedness.
A hands-on approach to learning is the mainstay of a curriculum that engages and excites little ones to grow and develop. Age-appropriate programs combine academic, emotional, physical and social learning. Children learn quantitative concepts, language, music, art and rhythm to build fine and large motor skills, as well as social skills. The Turrell Center's teachers focus on the unique abilities and needs of each and every child, building upon his or her strengths and helping overcome any challenges. Every classroom is equipped with "Young Explorer" computers that provide age-appropriate educational activities and games, and a variety of enrichment programs, such as music, gymnastics and Spanish are also offered.
Whether you have a 2-month-old infant who needs tender loving care, a 3-year-old who is preparing for independence or a kindergartner who must learn elementary school fundamentals, the Turrell Center offers a high-quality, early educational experience to all.
For infants 8 weeks old and older, Turrell's nurturing "home away from home" rooms are beautifully equipped with rocking chairs, cribs and age appropriate toys to make your baby happy and as comfortable as possible. As cleanliness is paramount to your child's health and well-being, all equipment is cleaned and sanitized throughout the day. Furthermore, to ensure your child grows and develops at his or her own pace, the Turrell Center staff allows your infant or toddler to follow his or her own individual schedule.
The vast majority of children who enter the Turrell Center at infancy stay through pre-K, and many of their parents report they continue to excel in school after graduating. We also offer full-day kindergarten and a summer camp program.

Your child will be nurtured and educated by caring teachers who have extraordinary experience and who have been with Turrell for many years, providing a continuity of care that is so important for children. Our teachers stay at Turrell because they are valued, appreciated and given the tools they need to teach effectively. Our director has been here since 1978 and has built a strong, stable team that shares a home-school partnership philosophy and approach to teaching.
We're centrally located just off Route 17 in Paramus (close to Route 4 and the Garden State Parkway) and have ample parking. We are open Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Full or part-time enrollment available. We are open all 12 months of the year. We also offer a camp program for your child's older siblings in the summer and during school breaks.
