               Baby Basics: Helping struggling families

Students of Glen Rock's Central Elementary School host a Baby Basic Drive.

Last year, our Baby Basics program provided free diapers, nutritional formula and baby wipes to 179 babies of low-income families, a record number. The demand for this vital program is growing. We always have a waiting list of families who need our help. We were there for Aidan and his family:

Aidan is only 18 months old, but he has already seen more doctors than most adults.
He was born with low muscle tone and had trouble eating. His worried parents took him to Columbia University Medical Center. He stayed for several weeks before being diagnosed
with a genetic disorder that affected his overall development.

Although both Aidan's parents work full-time and have health insurance, the huge
medical expenses they've incurred have put a strain on their budget. They're
struggling to meet all of their expenses.

"The Baby Basics program has given us a lifeline," says Aidan's mother. "There are so many
medical bills and expenses, even parking and tolls going to the city every day. The
Baby Basics program has been a huge help to us."

We need your help to continue helping families struggling to make ends meet and provide for their babies. For information on conducting a drive or making a donation, call the Development Office at 201.261.2800 or visit www.cafsnj.org.
