May 2010

May is National Foster Care Month

Incredibly, there are currently more than 8,000 children in foster care in the state of New Jersey (Source: U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families). Sadly, most have been removed from their parents' care because of abuse and neglect. The month of May celebrates the extraordinary people who open their homes and hearts to foster children and provide desperately needed love, structure and guidance.

Several of the foster parents with Children's Aid and Family Services are featured on www.cafsnj.org and talk about their experiences. They are making an amazing difference. You can too! To hear them, visit www.cafsnj.org. Call 201-226-0300 or 973-762-5887 to speak to our recruitment specialist.

Once again, the agency will be a main beneficiary of proceeds from the tournament and we need your help to help us raise funds for the vulnerable children and families we serve. Some of the fun and exciting ways you can get involved include measuring shots on the green in the middle of the action, helping the local and international press in the media center or greeting corporate guests.

Each volunteer will receive a shirt, hat, volunteer badge which is valid for entry to the tournament for the entire week, guest entry passes, volunteer parking pass, lunch the days you work and admission to the Volunteer Appreciation Party. To sign up, visit http://barclaysvolunteers.pgatourhq.com or contact Karen Winick at 201.261.2800 x222.
