Children's Aid and Family Services to honor children in foster and group homes
Sponsorship needed

(Paramus, NJ) August 7, 2007 - "Mom! Dad! Look at me!" A familiar and oh-so-frequent phrase uttered by most children at an early age. But children in foster care don't have a parent to champion them and most rarely, if ever, have had a consistent adult in their lives to watch their accomplishments. They haven't had a Mom or Dad to cheer them on as they swim in the ocean for the first time or share in their excitement as they learn to ride a bike.

To that end, Children's Aid and Family Services will be holding its 12th Annual Children's Motivational Awards dinner for children residing in its foster and group homes at the Landmark in East Rutherford, on Monday, October 22, 2007, from 6:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. The evening is a large family-style celebration, with awards being given to the children for their accomplishments and progress.

This event is the agency's special way of saying "we're proud of you," as well as motivating the children to persevere in their hard work, present exceptional role models for them to emulate, and to spur self-respect for their own hard work.

The children eagerly anticipate this event, often dressing up in their best clothes and primping like it's the prom. At the awards ceremony, they get to dance, attend a fancy dinner, and feel like kings and queens - this is their special night. Every child in the agency's care will be honored and presented with an award.

Additionally, a special guest of honor will encourage the children to aim for their maximum potential by sharing his or her own powerful, personal story - exemplifying success amidst similar adversity which these children are working to overcome.

The dinner is attended by more than 80 children in foster care, their foster families, agency employees that care for them, and numerous community volunteers that work with the children. Past sponsors have included extremely generous individuals, as well as Sovereign Bank, Rotary Clubs, and the Turrell Fund. The agency is seeking sponsors for this year's beloved dinner, the theme of which is transform a child's life. If you'd like to sponsor this wonderful celebration, please contact Lyn Rumage at 201-261-2800. Sponsorship opportunities range from $2,500-$12,000.
