Children's Aid and Family Services' 2007 Gala needs sponsors

(Paramus, NJ) December 20, 2006 - Children's Aid and Family Services' major fundraiser, "A Sparkling Evening of Magic, Marvel, and a touch of March Madness," will be held on March 16, 2007, at The Hackensack Golf Club in Oradell. This important event greatly helps the children in the agency's care, who often come to Children's Aid and Family Services with nothing but a few personal possessions and whose childhoods have been marred by traumatic memories. With the agency's help, they are able, often for the first time in their lives, to experience the things most children take for granted - clean clothes, three nutritious meals a day, visits to the doctor when they're sick, toys to play with, books to read. Most of all, they are given hope of finding a permanent, loving family.

"The gala is one of the major ways the agency raises funds to help support the vulnerable children and families it serves," says Liz Mason, executive vice president. "We're thrilled to welcome back long-time agency friend Mutual of America as a sponsor, and we're excited to have Arthur Groom & Co., NextWave, TD Banknorth, Toys 'R' Us, United Water, and Wyeth as first-time sponsors this year. We're hoping to attract even more sponsors, because the more sponsors we have, the more funds there are available for our vital services."

Every net penny raised is used to improve the lives of the agency's clients. For example, proceeds from past events allowed the agency to build its educational support fund and assist young adults with college and other post-secondary training costs, provide diapers and formula to need local families and recruit foster and adoptive parents for children whose only wish is a loving, nurturing home.

The theme of the 4th annual gala is "A Sparkling Evening of Magic, Marvel, and a touch of March Madness," and will include a cocktail hour, sumptuous buffet dinner, dancing, and live and silent auctions featuring exciting and luxurious travel packages, once-in-a-lifetime experiences and an assortment of unique items. Additionally, basketball fanatics can count down to the Final Four by taking part in basketball pools, with the chance to win all kinds of prizes. Last, but certainly not least, Arthur Groom & Co. has generously donated a $10,000 emerald to the event, which will be raffled. Raffle tickets will be sold for $20 a piece or six for $100.

Tickets for the 2007 gala start at $150. Online registration will be available at www.cafsnj.org beginning January 4, 2007. For tickets, sponsorships or more information, please call Lyn Rumage at 201-261-2800.
