BUILDING A FAMILY THROUGH ADOPTION

( Ridgewood , NJ ) October 23, 2006 - Building a Family through Adoption is a three session series that explores different aspects of what's involved in adopting an infant or child. Sessions are Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. during October and November. Individuals may attend a single session or the entire series. The cost is $60 for the three session workshop series or $25 for an individual session.

On Thursday, October 26, Is Adoption for Me? will be presented. This session provides information about what's involved in adopting an infant or child and a guide to the resources available to support the adoption process.

On Thursday, November 2, Adoption: Understanding its Lifelong Impact, will be presented . This session is designed to help you understand what's involved in raising healthy, well-adjusted, adopted children.

On Thursday, November 30, Transcultural/Transracial Adoption: Parenting a Child of a Different Culture or Race will be presented. This session explores the various myths about transracial and transcultural adoption. It gives parents tools to help their children cope with racial and cultural differences within their family, and in some cases, as a minority in their community.

All classes will be held at 148 Prospect Street , Ridgewood . Please call Marianne Bennett at 201-445-7015 x215 to register for BUILDING A FAMILY THROUGH ADOPTION classes, for further information, or to request a copy of the fall/winter 2006 community education catalogue.
