Love is All You Need Spring Gala
The Venetian – Garfield, NJ

(Paramus, NJ)  April 12, 2011 – Nearly 500 people attended Children's Aid and Family Services' eighth annual gala, "Love is All You Need," held at the Venetian in Garfield, NJ. Ridgewood residents Anne Armstrong-Coben, M.D. and Doris Hansmann were honored at the event. Dr. Armstrong-Coben was honored for her leadership and advocacy on behalf of the medical needs of vulnerable children and youth. She is a pediatrician and assistant clinical professor of pediatrics at Columbia University Medical Center, and recently became the medical director for Children's Aid and Family Services, spearheading the new Medical Services and Advocacy Center for children in foster care.

Mrs. Hansmann received special recognition from the agency for her many years of service and support. She was one of the founders of Family Counseling Services of Ridgewood and the Vicinity in 1956, which became part of Children's Aid and Family Services in 1995. She remains a strong supporter of the agency, and is actively involved with many local organizations, including the College Club of Ridgewood, Ridgewood Public Library, and as a volunteer at Kurth Cottage, Valley Hospital's gift shop.

Guests were treated to a performance by Caledon, the world-renowned Scottish tenors, who performed a medley of Elvis Presley hits wearing Elvis-inspired kilts performing Elvis Presley classic "Love me Tender," and sang a rousing version of the Proclaimers' song, "I would walk 500 miles."

Additionally, the winner of the "Love" Emerald necklace raffle was picked by Arthur Groom and Doug Dittrick, chair of Children's Aid and Family Services' Honorary Board. Created especially for the gala by Arthur Groom & Co., the pear-shaped emerald surrounded by diamonds is 15 carats and is valued at $40,000. The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, is delighted.
