(Paramus, NJ) November 30, 2010 – Walgreens is holding a holiday gift drive to benefit the children and families served by Paramus, NJ-based Children's Aid and Family Services. Walgreens shoppers are asked to purchase a gift such as diapers, bibs, baby wipes, gift cards, gift sets socks and hair accessories and place it in the gift drive display located in each store. The drive will be held at all Walgreens stores in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Passaic and Union Counties.
Children's Aid and Family Services primarily cares for foster and adoptive children and also helps families in need. The agency is seeking toiletries and hair accessories for the children living in its group homes, who often come into care with little more than the clothes on their backs. Additionally, the agency's Baby Basics program provides free nutritional formula, diapers and other baby essentials to hardworking low-income families with infants and children. As a result of the economic downturn, more and more families are seeking help from this program. "We're enormously grateful to Walgreens for hosting this holiday gift drive," says Liz Mason, senior vice president, strategic planning & development for Children's Aid and Family Services. "The gifts will certainly help make the holidays brighter for the foster children in our care and be a huge help to the low-income families we serve through our Baby Basics program."
