(Paramus, NJ) October 14, 2008 - Children's Aid and Family Services was recently selected as a 2008 Congressional "Angel in Adoption." The awards are sponsored by the Congressional Coalition of Adoption Institute (CCAI), a non-partisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about the tens of thousands of foster children and orphans in the United States -- and the millions of orphans throughout the world -- in need of permanent, safe, loving homes through adoption. Each year, members of Congress select individuals, families or organizations from their home state that have demonstrated a commitment to improving the lives of children in need of homes. U.S. Rep. Steve Rothman (D-NJ) nominated Children's Aid and Family Services for the "Angel in Adoption" award, which was presented to Bob Jones, Ph.D., President & CEO of the agency. "I'm profoundly grateful that the agency's mission and staff are being recognized in such a meaningful way," he said.
The Angels in Adoption Gala has more Congressional participation than any child welfare event in the nation, with 193 members of Congress participating.
Children's Aid and Family Services is one of the largest regional, nonprofit human services organizations serving northern New Jersey. The agency is fully accredited and has served the community for more than 100 years. Its mission is to
preserve, protect and, when needed, provide families. Motivated by compassion for
vulnerable children, young adults, frail elderly and their families, it provides high-quality and innovative services that meet their social, educational and emotional needs.
