Children's Aid and Family Services Receives $10,000 grant from The George A. Ohl, Jr. Foundation

(Paramus, NJ) June 5, 2008 - Children's Aid and Family Services recently received a $10,000 grant from the George A. Ohl, Jr. Foundation. Managed by Wachovia Charitable Services, the Foundation's purpose is to improve the well-being of the citizens of the State of New Jersey through science, health, recreation, education and increased good citizenship.

The grant will support recruitment and clinical services for the agency's foster care program for infants and toddlers. The young children served in this program are born to parents who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to care for them in a safe and stable environment. The agency's foster care program for infants and toddlers recruits and trains foster parents who can provide a healthy foundation for these vulnerable children. Foster parents provide a temporary, loving and stable home for the children, while Children's Aid and Family Services works with the Department of Children and Families to obtain a permanent home for them, either through reunification with their birth parents or placement with an adoptive family.

The generous funding from The George A. Ohl, Jr. Foundation will enable the agency to provide critical supports to the vulnerable young children in the agency's care, and will enhance the agency's outreach efforts to help secure more loving and nurturing homes for each of them.

Children's Aid and Family Services is one of the largest regional, nonprofit human services organizations serving northern New Jersey. The agency is fully accredited and has served our community for more than 100 years. Our mission is to preserve, protect and, when needed, provide families. Motivated by compassion for vulnerable children, young adults, frail elderly and their families, we provide high-quality and innovative services that meet their social, educational and emotional needs.
