(Paramus, NJ) January 25, 2008 - Children's Aid and Family Services' Baby Basics program is seeking volunteers at its location at the Center for Food Action (CFA), at 192 Demarest Avenue, in Englewood, New Jersey to help package, buy, and distribute supplies of diapers and formula to approximately 60 families. The Baby Basics program provides nutritional formula, diapers, and other infant supplies to low-income families with children 2 years and under, as well as parent education and a safety net system of emotional support, counseling, and referrals.
Distribution of supplies takes place from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. every other Thursday, beginning February 7 and ending December 18. Distributors need to be available from 5:45 p.m. to 7:10 p.m. every other Thursday at the Englewood site to hand out supplies. This volunteer opportunity is suitable for individual or groups of volunteers willing to assist either at each distribution or to a regular schedule throughout the year.
Volunteer packers are also needed to help at the Englewood site during the morning of each distribution to pack the bags for the families, and shoppers to purchase and deliver diapers and formula to the site a few days prior to the distribution.
