(Paramus, NJ) January 31, 2008 - The Franklin Lakes Newcomers & Neighbors Club recently hosted an art auction at Portobello Restaurant in Oakland, New Jersey. The event was a great success, and the club donated $12,000 to Paramus-based Children's Aid and Family Services' Boarder Babies program - in which individuals or families provide foster care for infants whose mothers are unable to care for them - as well as the Baby Basics program, which provides weekly supplies of nutritional formula and diapers to low-income families with infants.
More than 100 people attended the fun event -- many of them from The Franklin Lakes Newcomers & Neighbors Club -- and they spent the evening mingling and getting better acquainted with their neighbors. They also enjoyed a sit down dinner and enthusiastically partook in the art auction. The works of Chagall were especially popular among the bidders, as well as the sports memorabilia featured.
"We're extremely grateful to The Franklin Lakes Newcomers & Neighbors Club for hosting this wonderful event and generously donating a portion of the proceeds to two of our most vital programs," says Liz Mason, executive vice president, Children's Aid and Family Services.
