(Paramus, NJ) May 17, 2007 - They may only be "Mom" for a few short weeks. Some may be "Mom" to scores of newborns. All will have a lifelong impact on the children who they cared for. To that end, Children's Aid and Family Services' recently honored a special group of dedicated foster mothers who participate in the agency's Boarder Babies program with a celebratory luncheon, generously sponsored by Paramus Park Mall. The moms were treated to a delicious buffet, prepared by Bensi Italian Restaurant, and were given special commemorative picture frames by Paramus Park. The mood was festive as the women gathered to share the meal and "ooh" and "ahh" over one another's babies.
Boarder Babies is a program in which children born to mothers unable to care for them live temporarily with a foster family. Many of these babies have complicated backgrounds resulting from being born with varying degrees of drug exposure. They have been given medical clearance to leave the hospital, but their mothers have been discharged separately. Without the loving care of these devoted foster mothers, these fragile babies would be left with nowhere to go.
"Our focus at Paramus Park is on families," says Madinah Grier, marketing manager, Paramus Park. "What better way to showcase that commitment than with a luncheon for such a very special group of Moms?"
