(Paramus, NJ) July 9, 2007 - Children's Aid and Family Services is seeking donations of essential items for its group foster homes for children and adolescents. Especially welcome are gifts of bath towels, twin bedding (including fitted and full sheets and comforters), and flatware in new condition. Also needed are photo frames, exercise equipment and recreational items, such as bicycles, table tennis or football games in new or gently used condition.
The agency has five group foster homes in Bogota, Paramus, Park Ridge and Ridgewood that serve children and adolescents who can no longer live with their birth family for a variety of reasons, most commonly abuse and neglect. Children, ages 5 - 18, live in the group foster homes, which are staffed 24-hours a day, seven days a week, by professional staff.
These items are needed because tremendous efforts are made to find a foster or adoptive family for every child in the agency's care, thus the residents of the group home change regularly. To that end, new luggage is also needed.
"Our friends in the community always respond so generously whenever we have a need, and we're extremely grateful," says Liz Mason, executive vice president of Children's Aid and Family Services. "Right now, we're in need of these basic household and recreational items for the children in our care."
