TD Banknorth provides grant to help foster children

(l. - r.): Tara Williams, Vice President, Public Affairs, Mid-Atlantic Division, TD Banknorth; Bob Jones, Ph.D., president & CEO of Children's Aid and Family Services; and Melissa Blount, Vice President, Community Development for Mid-Atlantic Region, TD Banknorth.

(Paramus, NJ) July 23, 2007 - TD Banknorth, through its charitable giving arm the TD Banknorth Charitable Foundation, has bestowed a generous $5,000 grant to Children's Aid and Family Services to help provide funding for the medical and clinical needs of the foster children in the agency's care. These children usually come to the agency after having gone through multiple placements, and after having experienced severe neglect and trauma. Consequently, they often have serious gaps in their health needs, as well as untreated medical conditions.

At any given time, there are more than 100 children living in the agency's five group homes, two of which are in Paramus. The others are located in Bogota, Park Ridge and Ridgewood. With the assistance of organizations such as TD Banknorth, Children's Aid and Family Services is able to help these children heal from traumatic pasts and go on to lead productive lives. Without this support, these vital services wouldn't be possible.

"We're tremendously grateful for TD Banknorth's support," says Bob Jones, Ph.D., president & CEO of Children's Aid and Family Services. "This wonderful donation will help us to continue to provide medical intervention and a wealth of clinical support, under the direction of a professional treatment team, to the children in the agency's care."

TD Banknorth's Mid-Atlantic Division, headquartered in Mahwah, New Jersey, is part of TD Banknorth, N.A., the banking subsidiary of TD Banknorth, Inc., a $40 billion asset banking and financial services company headquartered in Portland, Maine.
